Orange cream: A delicious and easy-to-make dessert

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 8 oranges (1 litre of juice)
  • 50 g sugar
  • 50 g refined maize flour

To decorate:

  • 8 raspberries
  • Mint leaves


  1. Squeeze the oranges: The first thing you need to do is to squeeze the oranges to get the juice. You should get about 1 litre of orange juice. Once squeezed, reserve 150 ml of this juice and put the rest (850 ml) to heat in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Prepare the corn-sugar mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the 150 ml of reserved orange juice with the refined cornflour and sugar. Stir well until you get a homogeneous mixture without lumps.
  3. Cook the creamWhen the juice in the pan is hot, pour the mixture of juice, cornflour and sugar into the pan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to avoid sticking or lumps. Continue cooking until the cream thickens, which should take about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Distribute and cool: Once the cream has reached the desired consistency, spread it into 4 glasses. Allow the glasses to cool to room temperature before decorating.
  5. Decorate and serve: When the cream is cold, decorate each glass with two raspberries and a few mint leaves. If you prefer the cream very cold, you can put the glasses in the fridge for at least a couple of hours before serving.
