We continue with legends and myths in which oranges play a fundamental role. We have already discussed the Garden of the Hesperides<\/a> now we will tell you the legend of the orange blossom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of citrus fruits is not only about agriculture, trade and flavour. There are also stories that tell us about love, beauty and mystery. One of the most beautiful is the legend of the orange blossom<\/strong>, which has travelled from Granada throughout the Mediterranean and is now inextricably linked with orange trees, their flowers and their unmistakable aroma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting of Xur\u00e1n and Al-Azahar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tradition has it that during the Nasrid period, a young architect named Xur\u00e1n<\/strong>, who was responsible for designing gardens for the sultan. There he met Al\u2011Azahar<\/strong>, a young slave girl of great beauty and sweetness. A pure love blossomed between them, flourishing with the same vigour as orange trees in spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each encounter was accompanied by the intoxicating scent of orange blossom. Orange blossom became the symbol of their union, an invisible bond that united their hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tragedy of fate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The sultan, jealous and authoritarian, discovered the secret love between Xur\u00e1n and Al-Azahar. Unable to tolerate it, he ordered the young woman's death. Her body was scattered in the palace gardens, among the blossoming orange trees. It is said that, since then, the scent of orange blossom began to permeate the air with a magical intensity, as if Al-Azahar's soul had merged forever with those flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eternal perfume<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Neither time nor the power of the sultan could erase the scent of orange blossom. Every spring, when the orange trees bloom, the air is filled with that sweet, delicate perfume that reminds us of young love. For many, orange blossom is not only a symbol of purity and beauty, but also of eternal love<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orange blossom in Mediterranean culture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the centuries, orange blossom has become a central element of Mediterranean culture. It is used in weddings as a symbol of fidelity, in infusions and essences for its relaxing properties, and in popular rituals as an emblem of good luck. Above all, it remains the soul of the orange trees that populate our fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A story that lives on<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
