Candied oranges, easy and homemade recipe for Christmas

Discover the magic of candied oranges, a traditional Christmas sweet that you can easily prepare at home.

Nothing represents Christmas more than the aroma and taste of traditional sweets. At Cocalni, we love to share recipes that combine tradition and simplicity. Today we will show you how to prepare delicious candied oranges dipped in chocolate, ideal to accompany the Roscón de Reyes or simply to enjoy with the family.

Ingredients

  • 4 oranges (preferably firm and juicy)
  • 375 g of sugar
  • 750 ml of water
  • Chocolate for melting (to taste)

Step-by-step preparation:

1. Cleaning and preparation:
Wash the oranges carefully to remove any residue. Once cleaned, cut them into thin slices, making sure to keep the peel on.

2. Cooking the syrup:
In a large saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring the mixture over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

3. Confit:
Place the orange slices in the syrup. Simmer for 35-40 minutes, or until the slices are tender and translucent. This will allow them to absorb the sweetness and take on their characteristic shine.

4. Drying:
Remove the slices from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

5. Dipped in chocolate:
Melt the chocolate in the microwave or in a bain-marie. Dip each slice halfway into the chocolate and place on baking paper. Allow the chocolate to harden before serving.

Suggestions for enjoying your candied oranges:

  • Roscón de Reyes: Use the oranges to decorate and add a handmade touch to your "roscón".
  • Gourmet aperitif: Serve them as a dessert with coffee or tea.
  • Christmas gift: Pack them in a nice box and surprise your loved ones.

🎄 At Cocalni, we believe that homemade recipes are more than a tradition: they are moments to share, create memories and savour the true spirit of Christmas.
