Egypt increases its exports to the EU this year

Egypt has experienced exponential growth in its citrus exports to the European Union, increasing by 61% this year. In particular, Egyptian oranges have experienced a dizzying rise, even surpassing South Africa in terms of volume of shipments.

This phenomenon can be attributed to several factors. On the one hand, Egypt's climatic conditions are particularly favourable for citrus cultivation, allowing for abundant and quality production. In addition, investments in agricultural infrastructure have been essential to optimise the cultivation, harvesting and export processes. Furthermore, the opening up of trade and the signing of bilateral agreements have facilitated the access of Egyptian produce to the European market.

The impact of this increase in citrus supply has been remarkable. On the one hand, European consumers have benefited from increased access to oranges at competitive prices. However, the situation poses challenges for local producers.
