The war in Iran continues to drive up the costs of citrus farming in Valencia

The conflict in the Middle East continues to have a direct impact on the Valencian citrus sector. According to figures from La Unió Llauradora, the rise in production costs has already exceeded 16%, driven mainly by increases in the cost of fertilisers, energy and agricultural diesel. The average cost per hectare has risen from around €495 before the conflict to around €575, a rise that is of particular concern in the middle of the fertilisation and irrigation season.

The agricultural sector is calling for swift action to provide aid and measures to ease the financial pressure on producers. The situation once again highlights how international conflicts can directly affect the Valencian countryside and the profitability of farms. In Cocalni remain vigilant regarding all issues that affect our farmers and the future of citrus farming.
