18th National Congress of Horticultural Sciences

The 18th National Congress of Horticultural Sciences It is being held in Valencia until 12 June 2025, organised by the SECH, the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA). More than 250 scientific papers and four keynote speeches are on the agenda, brought together under the slogan ‘Agriculture based on scientific knowledge’, with the active participation of national and international experts.

The conference addresses current challenges such as climate change, pests and the price crisis in the Valencian countryside. As Carlos Mesejo (UPV) pointed out, science continues to be the cornerstone for adapting agriculture to extreme circumstances, while Ángeles Calatayud (IVIA) warned that although results are already noticeable, these are long-term processes and more investment is needed.

The first SECH Pre-Doctoral Congress was also included, with prizes of €500 to encourage research by young scientists. In addition, the event is supported by 14 national and international agri-food entities, including FMC, Anecoop, and Citrosol, underscoring the business sector's commitment to agricultural innovation.
