Zumotron: the video game that educates and promotes the value of orange juice

The Spanish citrus sector has launched an innovative educational tool: Zumotron, a video game designed to raise awareness of the value of 100% squeezed orange juice and the value chain behind it. This initiative is part of the ‘Nothing but juice. Nothing less than juice’ campaign, presented with the support of the Valencian Regional Government.

Promoting healthy consumption through play

A sector with economic and environmental impact

Natural juice is not only nutritious; it also represents sustainability and employment. Every year, 1.2 million tonnes of fruit that cannot be consumed fresh are turned into juice, preventing food waste. In addition, by-products such as pulp and peel are also used. The sector generates more than 280,000 jobs and is worth between €4 billion and €4.7 billion annually.

A tool against misinformation

The rise of fake news about orange juice on the internet has jeopardised its image. With ‘Zumotron’, the citrus sector is taking a step forward to provide accurate information, connect with young audiences and strengthen recognition of this key product in the Mediterranean diet.
