The clemenrubí is a unique clementine variety, discovered in 1994 in Loriguilla (Valencia) by Juan Navarro. It is a spontaneous mutation of Oronules that stands out for its early harvesting, between 15 September and 10 October, and its attractive reddish orange colour. In addition, AVASA® has the world exclusive rights to its exploitation, which guarantees rigorous control over its cultivation and commercialisation.
What makes the clemenrubí special?
This clementine is known for several characteristics that distinguish it from other varieties. Its tree is slow-growing and leafy, with thornless branches and elongated leaves of a very intense dark green colour. Despite its compact size and medium size, it is a highly productive plant, noted for its dense fruiting. This allows for a higher yield per hectare, provided that suitable planting frames are used.
The fruit of the clemenrubí is slightly larger than the Oronules, with a diameter of between 55 and 60 mm. Its deep orange rind is thin but tough, easy to peel and has a juicy, pleasantly flavoured flesh. Its juice content varies between 47% and 55%, which makes it a perfect choice for those who enjoy clementines full of flavour.

The clemenrubí is a parthenocarpic and self-incompatible variety, which means that it does not generate seeds, unless cross-pollinated. Its fast entry into production and high viability make it ideal for abundant harvests right from the start. However, due to the density of its fruits, thinning may be necessary to ensure quality production.
It is important to bear in mind that this variety is sensitive to sunstroke and to buffing when it is overripe, so it requires specific care regarding its exposure. Moreover, it is recommended to graft it on vigorous rootstocks to optimise its growth and yield.
